Step 2: Think about your WHY! Why do you want to buy a home? This is something you can continuously come back to throughout your house hunting journey to make sure you’re buying the house that’s right for your needs. Here are a few examples that might help spark your why: to raise your family, to have a space to make your Pinterest boards come to life and paint the walls whatever color you want, to make a good financial investment, to invest in a rental property that will provide you with some extra income, or are you buying a home for retirement? There are so many reasons for owning a home but what is YOUR reason?

Step 3: Budget for all home buying expenses! As you go through the home buying process, there are going to be a variety of expenses in addition to your down payment that might come as a surprise to you if you’re not prepared! Some of the expenses to keep in mind are, the home inspection, the appraisal, earnest money, closing costs, and any other tests you want done on the home.
